All About Bill’s Famous Spreads

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Bill Renders started making his cheese spread for family and friends around town as far back as he can remember. Whenever Bill asked what he could bring to a party, family or work function, everyone told him to “bring that awesome cheese!” With each new batch he tweaked the recipe until the taste was perfect. As someone who liked to cook and entertain, Bill enjoyed making people happy with his cheese samples and they didn’t have to travel far to get it.

As Bill’s cheese became more and more famous, his son Gerry finally told him “Dad, we need to sell this stuff!” Realizing this idea might be possible, Bill worked out the details, Gerry designed the logo’s and in 2002 Bill’s Famous Cheese Spreads was born! The dream, however, would never have become a reality without the support of family and friends who immediately stepped up to help in every way—from assisting in the kitchen to marketing and distributing.

Word of mouth and lots of leg work helped get Bill’s cheese into several local stores, with early orders selling out quickly. As production and distribution continued in their commercial kitchen, new flavors emerged! Smoked Gouda, Cracked Pepper Dill & Bourbon Pecan were born and have continued on to this day. Bill Renders passed in 2019 and his legacy lives on through his son, Gerry, continuing the tradition of quality ingredients and no shortcuts. We would like to give a big thanks to all of his friends, family, colleagues and of course his dedicated loyal customers! Thank you all.
